Redditch United 2, Cinderford Town 2
Rock bottom Cinderford stunned the Reds by picking up a deserved point at the Valley Stadium – only the second time they have avoided defeat on the road all season.
And they certainly wasted little time in showing their intent, taking the lead after just six minutes when Gethyn Hill headed in a pin-point Matthew Thomas cross.
But Redditrch hit back in impressive style and were ahead just ten minutes later.
The equaliser came from the penalty spot on nine minutes. Luke Keen was brought down by the keeper but picked himself up to fire past Cameron Clarke.
And Clarke was beaten again when Jordan Culinane-Liburd netted from close range after Danico Johnson’s effort had been well saved.
The Reds continued to dominate without looking like adding to their tally apart from a long-range Ahmed Ali shot that again forced the over-worked Cinderford keeper into action.
Callum Moonie came off the bench for the visitors at the start of the second half and the substitute levelled the scores on 53 minutes.
Reds keeper Brad Catlow had pulled off an excellent save to deny Thomas moments earlier but maybe should have done better with Moonie’s 25-yard drive that found the back of the United net.
In an entertaining second half, both sides had chances to grab the three points.
For Redditch, Simeon Cobourne hit the post on 66 minutes before Keen had a shot deflected onto the upright seconds before Culinane-Liburd saw his header superbly saved by Clarke in the visitors’ goal.
For Cinderford, James Bloom headed against the crossbar, Thomas dragged an effort wide and then, a minute from time, substitute Karnell Chambers saw his fierce effort tipped over the bar by the Reddicth keeper.
Reds: Catlow 7, Jones 6, Kelly 6, Loveridge 8, Courtney 6, Culinane-Liburd 6, Cobourne 7, Ali 6 (Spink 74), KEEN 8, Singh 7, Johnson 6 (Angus 58, 6). Subs (not used): Bako, Brown.
