BIRMINGHAM City Ladies captain Laura Bassett will be waiting on tenterhooks to see if she makes the cut for Hope Powell's England squad for the World Cup in China in September.
Bassett was called up to the Lions squad for recent matches against Northern Ireland and Iceland.
But she failed to make the match day squad for the European Championship qualifier against Northern Ireland at Gillingham's Priestfield Stadium or Thursday's friendly win over Iceland at Roots Hall as Powell's side recorded back-to-back 4-0 wins.
Bassett is not the only Birmingham player striving to gatecrash a finals tournament after goalkeeper Sue Wood and right-back Chelsea Weston were called up into an under-19s training camp.
At the camp, coach Mo Marley is considering her squad for July's European Championships in Iceland.
