LAURA Dangerfield came up against some high quality opponents when she finished fifth in the Heart of England Championships.
The 24-year-old was in 12 strong under-70 kilogram weight category that also included four full-time judo professionals.
After winning her first bout, she eventually lost to the fighters who would won bronze and silver in Walsall.
She said: “I am very pleased with the way I performed.
“The category was very strong and I came up against two full-time opponents and did not disgrace myself.
“I lost by small scores, I wasn’t battered or anything.”
Dangerfield’s next event is Kidderminster-based Samurai Judo Club’s Bev Price Team Championships.
