FECKENHAM suffered a surprise defeat at the hands of relegation battling Coombs Wood in the Worcestershire League Division Two.

Having won the toss and opted to bowl first, Feckenham struggled to contain their opponents from the Black Country who posted a competitive 253 all out.

Pete Monk (4-67) and Neil Evans (3-61) were the home team’s main wicket takers.

Feckenham’s reply suffered a setback when Daniel Bloomer (9) was bowled by Alex Chappell but they recovered from 22-1 to reach 55 when Andrew Kings was dismissed.

Josh Stacey (42) was trapped lbw by Stuart Baker as Feckenham collapsed to 118-6, before Jamie Reddish (89) steadied the ship.

But their defeat was sealed when were bowled out for 200 in the 36th over.

Mid-table Feckenham go to relegation threatened Stourport on Saturday (1.30pm start).

In Division Three, Alvechurch and Hopwood continue to pull away from the relegation zone after a winning draw against mid-table Birlingham.

After earning 15 points they have a 100 strong lead over second from bottom Himbleton.

Matt Hayward struck 145 runs as Alvechurch recorded 271-4 in their 50 overs.

Christian Batteley took four wickets as Birlingham struggled to find a reply but Jame Styles’s 93 guided them to 265-8.
