ALCESTER’S poor run run of form in the South Warwickshire Summer Tennis League continues after they were beaten 3-1 by leaders Stratford.

They had started well against the champions as Stuart Beach and Will Morley-Cotterall recorded a 6-4, 6-1 win over Cameron Malik and Richard Monk.

However, they lost to Tim Page and Simon West (Stratford) 7-5, 6-1, while Alcester’s other pair Tim Kenneally and Tim Price lost to Page and West 6-3, 6-4, and Malik and Moreley-Cotterall 6-3, 6-1.

Inkberrow tried to keep the pressure on Division One leaders Ardencote Manor with a 4-0 win over Aston Cantlow. To win the league, they will need to win their last two matches 4-0 and hope the table toppers lose twice.

Third-placed Studley were held by basement side Bidford-on-Avon to a 2-2 draw.

This result was a real blow to Studley’s promotion prospects as they now trail Inkberrow by three points with only one match left this season.

In Division Two, Studley B remain top despite losing 3-1 to Snitterfield A.

The Division Three title race heats up as only one point now separates the top two teams.

HDA A of Redditch moved within one point of leaders Moreton-in-Marsh A thanks to a 3-1 win at Inkberrow B.

Redditch HDA B lost 4-0 to Ardencote, who sealed the Division Four title. HDA will be relegation to Division Five aftwer amassing just six points.

Studley C are looking favourites for the Division Five title as they lead by six points with a total of 30 after beating Inkberrow C 3-1.
