TWO members of Bromsgrove and Redditch AC were in action at the English Schools Athletics Association National Championships.

Izzy Bilau represented the West Midlands in the under-20s age category in the 400m, setting a new personal best of 57.03 seconds in her heat to make the final.

She then finished seventh in 57.25.

Shot put is not Candy Lockett’s strongest field event but she managed to place 18th in the under-15s.

Meanwhile, the club’s senior teams eased their relegation worries in the Midlands Track and Field League Division Two with a fifth-place in Stoke.

Not content with competing at a national level the previous day, Billau joined the team but changed discipline to win the triple jump in 10.52 metres.

In the 400m hurdles she finished runner-up, missing out on another win by just 0.1 seconds in 72.3 with Thomasina Ball also placing second in the B competition with 81.2.

Ball also won the B triple jump in 9.19m.
