STUDLEY saw off bottom side Walsall YMF in the Warwickshire League Division One to keep themselves in striking distance of second place on Saturday.

A fine innings of 86 not out by Stuart Harris and 56 runs for Brandon Miller, saw the Bees earn 24 points.

While Studley are sixth in the table, they are only 35 points behind second-placed Marston Green.

Captain Steve Rose said: “It was a good team display. We’ve had a few injuries over the season but the team came togther and did well to bowl out Walsall on a good batting wicket.

“We then batted solidly and won the match with wickets to spare.

“The win has put us in a good position and it’s all very tight above us in the table, so if we can pick up some results we can put ourselves in the mix.”

Rose took three wickets and Stu Harris, who is bowling off spin because of his on-going injury problem, took two as Walsall were kept to 227-9 in their 50 overs.

Miller and Harris then made sure Studley cruised to 230 in 48 overs.

Studley go to third in the table Hampton and Solihull on Saturday (1pm start).
