I READ with disgust that a Redditch man found with drugs and an offensive weapon (Redditch & Alcester Advertiser, June 25) escaped a jail term despite being on a suspended sentence. The reason for this? Because he was 20.
Does that mean he is less likely to be criminal than a 42-year-old male?
This 20-year-old should have been jailed just for breaching his suspended sentence, let alone having a controlled substance, which he was given as a chance to redeem himself for 12 months.
Obviously it did not deter him but perhaps a spell at Her Majesty’s pleasure might. He must be laughing at just a slap on the wrist.
