ONE of the distinguishing features of both Redditch and Mappleborough Green is the high quality of the landscape that surrounds the two settlements.
A proposal has now been put forward that land should be taken out of the green belt in the Stratford-upon-Avon District north of the A4023 Coventry Highway and used by Redditch for industrial and commercial developments.
We are totally committed to resisting any nibbling away of the Green Belt and will do our very best to prevent sprawl by keeping land permanently open, helping to preserve the character of the area.
As councillors for Studley we believe that this proposal would be a threat to the well established landscape character of the area. In addition the woodland areas need to be kept because they have an important screening function and provide a buffer between Mappleborough Green and the edge of Redditch.
We hope that when the plans for public consultation are finally published all those who believe in the Green Belt will make their views known.
