The Human Rights campaigners have been at it again, supported of course by the European Court of Human Rights.

They now maintain that the sentences being handed down in England and Wales for murderers of the worst kind are degrading and against their human rights. For once I totally agree with them. Not only are the sentences degrading, they are also unjust and an endless burden on the taxpayer.

So now is a perfect opportunity to reintroduce capital punishment for most cases of murder especially now that forensic science has advanced to a foolproof level of accuracy of evidence. This will end the regular bouts of publicity afforded to these people while their victims are forgotten in a trice.

Take the Moors murderers for instance. Not a year goes by without these two hideous killers are brought to the attention of the public while the victims names are only remembered by their tormented families and friends.

The sooner these laws are reviewed and changed to more realistic ones that are underpinned by the responsibilities of the individual, the better for all of us.

As far as campaigners are concerned, they should spend their time more usefully by visiting the families and friends of the innocent victims and explaining their strange beliefs to them.
