A NEW LGBT+ night will help raise money for next year's Pride parade through Worcester.

Vince Monte, chair of Worcester Pride, has set up the Heaven nights at Shakeeys, Angel Street, which opens tonight.

Launching during Freshers' Week, they will take place monthly as well as weekly support sessions.

Mr Monte said: "We were planning to do fundraising all year at various locations but now Mr Shakeey has agreed we can hold monthly gay nights and weekly support sessions.

"It's not professional help but there will be people on hand to chat to and, if people have serious problems, we can signpost them in the right direction.

"I think the nights are going to be quite popular. There's a massive community of people and it has grown so fast."

Pride organisers are hoping to raise £5,000 to make next year's event free and 25p from every drink sold on the night will go towards the fundraising.

Tonight will see performances from drag queens Annie Rexic, Vince Diamonte and Stella Von Clutch.

Helping to organise the nights are Tomas Easterlow, James Page, Ellie Roxborough, Danny Jones and Jay Faloudi.

Doors open at 9pm
