THE best and worst GP surgeries in Evesham and Pershore according to patients have been revealed as part of an annual NHS survey.

Abbey Medical Practice in Abbey Lane in Evesham was ranked as the best taking the highest marks for overall experience.

Merstow Green Medical Centre scored the lowest for overall experience with 83 per cent of respondents saying it was ‘good’ or better.

The figures come from the NHS’s annual GP Patient Survey which reveals how Worcester’s doctor’s surgeries were rated between January and March – just weeks before the towns went into lockdown because of the coronavirus.

Residents were asked for their opinion on a variety of elements with practices, from booking appointments, waiting times, out-of-hours services and the quality of care given.

All of the doctor’s surgeries in Evesham and Pershore rated 83 per cent or higher with Pershore Medical Centre scoring 86 per cent, DeMontfort Medical Practice scoring 90 per cent, the Riverside Surgery scoring 92 per cent and Abbottswood Medical Practice and Abbey Medical Practice receiving scores of 94 per cent.

The survey results showed DeMontfort Medical Practice was the easiest surgery to get through onto the phone with 92 per cent of respondents saying it was straightforward. Riverside Surgery was second with a score of 82 per cent and Abbottswood Medical Practice scored 76 per cent. The hardest surgery to get hold of was Pershore Medical Centre which scored 64 per cent.

The results of the survey showed 100 per cent of respondents said DeMontfort Medical Practice had the most helpful receptionists followed by 97 per cent at Abbottswood Medical Practice and 95 per cent at Pershore Medical Practice.

A total of 93 per cent of respondents said Abbey Medical Practice had helpful receptionists, 91 per cent said staff at Riverside Surgery were helpful and 87 per cent said staff were helpful at Merstow Green Medical Practice.

All of the surgeries in the area scored 99 per cent for continuing to have confidence and trust in their doctor except for Pershore Medical Centre and DeMontfort Medical Practice which scored 95 per cent and 93 per cent respectively.
