A WORCESTER jewellery shop will not be reopening due to “circumstances surrounding the property.”

Owners of the family-run business, Rock Lobster Jewellery, announced that the store in Reindeer Court will not reopen as the landlord has plans to develop the building into residential apartments.

However, it will continue to trade online.

Owner Linda Preston shared the following message on the store’s website: “The world is changing, and recent months have spurred us into action to change the way we do things.

“Unfortunately, we will not be re-opening the shop in Reindeer Court due to circumstances surrounding the property. The landlords have plans to develop our shop into residential apartments and of course the disruption with lockdown and its implications we have decided not to move to another property at this time.

“We will be working from our office in Pershore for the foreseeable future.”

Despite the store closing after 22 years of operating in Worcester, the jewellery shop will continue to trade online.

Linda added: “Everything is changing, we realise that the future of retail is moving more towards online and we will do our best to help customers have a more personalised service.

“Our online sales are a large part of our business and have been very successful for the past 8 years. During lockdown we helped so many customers with our personalised and gift-wrapped service.

“It was great to be able to communicate on a very personal level and deliver jewellery locally quickly and efficiently ourselves providing support for our customers including same-day delivery in the Worcester area.

“We are able to provide a collection and delivery service locally for all jewellery repairs and most of you know us well enough to be assured that the best possible service will be carried out. We wish the very best future and happiness for everyone we know, let's all keep moving forward and be positive."
