THE Covid-19 outbreak has resulted in more people taking to two wheels and pedal power.

This is helping health and well-being but also providing an opportunity for thieves.

Bikes can cost anything from a few hundred pounds to more than a thousand for some models.

Malvern Hills District Council has organized a series of bike marking sessions but people living in Tenbury will need to take a ride out to Great Whitley to take advantage of the service.

Bike marking is a method that consists of applying a unique identifiable number to the frame of the bike, which is then registered with the National Bike Register Database.

“With more people in the community taking up bike riding during lockdown, it is so important that they take the measures to protect their bikes from thieves,” said councillor Tom Wells, portfolio holder for community services at Malvern Hills District Council.

It will follow social distancing guidelines at all times. Slots of 15 minutes will be available and booking is essential.

The nearest bike marking session in Tenbury is on Friday, June 26, between 11am and 2pm: Great Witley Village Hall Car Park.
