NEW data shows a total of 440 Worcestershire residents - with Covid-19 mentioned on the death certificate - had died in all settings up to the middle of May, according to latest Office of National Statistics (ONS) data.

The figures cover people who died from Covid-19 and the local authority area in which they lived, and provide information on deaths outside of county hospitals.

The latest data, covering the week May 8 and May 15, shows:

20 people died in a care home; six from Bromsgrove, five from Wyre Forest, four from Worcester, two from Redditch, two from Wyre Forest and one from Malvern Hills.

Twelve people died in hospital; Six from Wyre Forest, four from Bromsgrove, one from Wychavon and one from Redditch. No one from Worcester or Malvern died in hospital of Covid-19 that week, according to the ONS data.

Two people died at home, both from Wyre Forest.

One person, from Wychavon, died in a hospice.

Some of the deaths are ones previously not reported on, as the daily regional figure released by the NHS is only people dying of Covid-19 at county hospitals, including community hospitals.

The latest ONS figures reveal 440 Worcestershire people, classed as having Covid-19, died up to May 15. They include:

A total of 108 people from Bromsgrove; 66 in hospital, 38 in a care home, three in a place listed as elsewhere, and one in a communal establishment.

A total of 100 people from Wyre Forest; 56 in hospital, 35 in a care home, eight in a home, and one in a communal establishment.

A total of 93 Wychavon residents; 44 in a care home, 39 in hospital, four at home, three in a communal establishment, two in a hospice and one elsewhere.

A total of 52 Worcester residents; 25 in hospital, 22 in a care home, three at home, one in a hospice and one in a communal establishment.

A total of 45 people from Redditch; 37 in hospital, six in a care home, one at home and one in a communal establishment.

A total of 42 Malvern Hills residents; 21 in hospital, 18 in a care home, two at home and one in a communal establishment.
