Scenes like this were once common in towns and villages across Herefordshire.
They had become rarer in modern times, and this year as a consequence of coronavirus regulations not a single maypole dance took place in the county.
This one was held in the Market Square, Bromyard. We are not sure of the date. Perhaps you can recognise someone in the crowd and send us some details: email news@herefordtimes.com.
The maypole dance is a spring ritual usually performed on May Day (May 1).
The celebrations take place around a pole garnished with flowers and ribbons to symbolize a tree.
The tradition dates back to the dances ancient people used to do around real trees in hope of ensuring a good harvest. Picture copyright Hereford Times
