HERE'S a chance to bring the excitement of a live music gig into your home.

The Hereford Times with Hereford's Babar Cafe have organised a terrific session of online entertainment to banish the lockdown blues.

We also aim to raise money for our Support Our NHS Guardian Angels appeal.

The gig, which will be introduced by Nick Herbert of Babar Cafe, features three local acts: Rob Ashman and Nicola Rose of Talulah's Goat, David Ian Roberts, and Martin Blake.

It will be streamed on the Hereford Times Facebook page at 8pm on Saturday (May 2).

Although you can watch the gig for free, we are asking people to contribute as much or as little as they wish to our NHS appeal.

Support Our NHS Guardian Angels seeks to raise as much as possible to show those working in the NHS that we care and support them.

The appeal, set up by Hereford Times publisher Newsquest Media Group, is running across our network of regional papers across the UK. It is raising money for NHS Charities Together’s urgent Covid-19 appeal, the same cause that the heroic Captain Thomas Moore is supporting.

Before or after you enjoy Saturday night's gig please visit our GoFundMe page and make a donation: gofundme.com/f/support-our-nhs-guardian-angels

First up on Saturday will be Rob Ashman and Nicola Rose of Talulah's Goat.

Songwriter Rob tested his new tunes at Babar Cafe's open mic session before performing there with this new band.

Although two of the other members are missing due to limitations with social distancing, this performance with both singing and Rob playing guitar misses no punches.

At the full band's first show early last year, they were really well received and went on to play again at Babar's first birthday party in November.

Nick Herbert said: "It is lovely to see such a strong new local act coming through and we look forward to many more performances from them in the future."

David Ian Roberts is a folk musician who performs all over the country and he usually lives in Cardiff.

He does however come back and perform regularly in Hereford when he comes to visit family, usually as part of local psych folk promoters Weirdshire, who in usual times stage gigs at Babar's at least once a month.

Finally, Martin Blake is a genius guitar player who features in bands of various sizes, including the very popular foot-stomping five/six-piece Americana band Whiskey River.

He has performed as a soloist several times at Babar's, and also got together the two other members of his old band Blakes III for a rare performance last year for venue proprietor Ally's birthday.

Babar's and the Hereford Times would like to thank all four performers, who are always generous with their time and talent. We absolutely love them and hope you do too.

Lastly, a big thank-you to Nick Brown of Mash Cinema, who has generously edited our gig video. Nick also stages DJ nights with amazing visuals at Babar's called Eyeball Bubblebath.
