MAJOR resurfacing works are set to begin on a main Herefordshire route next month.

The Highways Agency will be resurfacing, repainting and replacing road studs in several areas of the A49 throughout April.

Overnight closures will be in force while works are taking place, with diversions in place.

Works will be taking place in the following areas:

  • Resurfacing between Grafton Lane and Grafton roundabout from April 6 to 30.
  • Repainting markings from the A466 Kingsthorne junction to the B4399 Bullinghope junction from April 13 to 30.
  • Resurfacing the Orcop crossroads from April 20 to 28.
  • Resurfacing the A49 junction with the A466 Kingsthorne junction from April 22 to 24.
  • Resurfacing the A49 Much Birch footway, including road markings and tactile pavings from April 22 to 24.
  • Resurfacing the A49 Maggie's Diner layby from April 27 to 30.
