ANOTHER 14 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Dudley bringing the current total to 40, according to Public Health England.

Government figures say there was a total of 40 people in the borough confirmed as having Covid-19 as of 9am on Tuesday, March 24.

This is up from the 26 cases confirmed on Monday, March 23.

Many cases may not be detected as the government is no longer testing people with mild symptoms who are self-isolating.

Dudley sits roughly in the middle of the government table for coronavirus cases, which is headed by Hampshire with 207 confirmed cases.

As of yesterday, there were 8,077 confirmed cases of the virus in total across the UK, including 422 deaths.

135 patients have recovered from the virus, according to Public Heath England figures.

1,427 cases were confirmed in the UK yesterday alone as the country continues under partial lockdown after the government closed non-essential shops and strengthened social distancing measures.
