VISITING will be stopped at all Herefordshire hospital sites in response to the coronavirus outbreak.
Wye Valley NHS Trust said the measures will come into force tomorrow (Tuesday).
Hospital bosses said that the action is a responsible and proactive measure to take as part of coronavirus (COVID-19) preparedness.
The policy will apply to the Trust's sites in Bromyard, Leominster, Ross-on-Wye, and Hereford County Hospital.
It will also apply to the county’s mental health inpatient units, Stonebow and Oak House.
Special allowances will be made for birthing partners, parents of patients under the age of 18, relatives collecting patients on discharge and those at the end of life. These will be restricted and visits must be pre-arranged with the nurse in charge.
Restrictions will also be in place on the maternity ward, where only one visitor can accompany people in labour, and only one nominated person or partner can visit the maternity ward and the delivery suite.
No children or young people under the age of 16 are allowed.
Only one parent or carer will be allowed on the children's ward at Hereford County Hospital. No siblings or young people under the age of 16 are allowed.
In exceptional circumstances, these restrictions will be reviewed on an individual basis which will be agreed with the nurse in charge.
