FLICKS in the Sticks, the local initiative that brings cinema to people in rural counties, has held two benefit screenings at local venues in areas that have been severely affected by the floods.
The rural touring scheme, which is part of the Arts Alive programme, partners with local people to organise over 1,000 high quality events each year in Shropshire, including live music, film, theatre, dance and storytelling shows in local theatres, village halls and community centres.
“Our mission is to enrich local communities with a cultural offering and ensure everyone in our rural areas is able to access high quality film and live events,” said Ian Kerry, who is the executive director of Flick in the Sticks and Arts Alive.
“When we heard about the damage caused by floods we wanted to offer a token of support.”
