CONSERVATIVES held both seats in the Bewdley and Stourport Town Council by-elections.

Residents took to the polls to fill vacant seats for Areley Kings West ward in Stourport and Bewdley West ward on Tuesday.

Paul Harrison, for the Conservative Party, was elected for Areley Kings West after receiving 175 votes.

Green Luke Clasper received 111 votes, Independent Community and Health Concern's Neil Thomas got 97 votes, Labour's Nicholas Savage received 40 votes and Liberal Democrat Peter Pratt had 10 votes. The turn-out was 21.1 per cent.

Conservative Michael Maher won the Bewdley West seat with 219 votes.

Andrew Copley, for the Green Party, received 122 votes, Labour's Corinne Bailey had 57 votes and Lib Dem Rachel Akathiotis got 36 votes. The turn-out here was 20 per cent.
