The sign grabbed a lot of attention after it went up on the city centre street, when work began to replace ageing water pipes earlier this week.

"But in all seriousness, the signs were only there temporarily while we brought our brand new signs to site."

"This is the first time that the new bright pink signs have been used in the county and they’re designed to tell people what’s going on rather than just that the road is closed. We really hope people like them – maybe tweet us @stwater if you do?”

The work is expected to move on to other city streets, before finishing in mid-spring.
