EVEN the sun shone for this year's Ledbury Big Breakfast at cafes, pubs, hotels, butchers and delis in and around Ledbury.

Organised by Ledbury Food Group, the event celebrated the district's locally produced foods and the importance and joy of a good wholesome breakfast.

Most businesses reported good business through the weekend with breakfasts from the lightest to the most traditional in demand, from bacon, eggs and trimmings through devilled kidneys to avocado on local sourdough, with many different options in between.

Saturday was particularly busy, but fortunately many booked in advance to avoid disappointment.

Ledbury's weekly country market reported good business for their breakfasts on the Friday.

The weather was so good that there were some al fresco breakfasters enjoying the sun in Church Lane.

The Mayor of Ledbury, Councillor Phillip Howells, visited most places taking part and said: "Ledbury and district's three-day Big Breakfast fest is all that is good about local food.

"The town was buzzing with happy customers and traders were delighted.

"A fabulous example of why the town is so loved by us who live here and those from many miles around."

Caroline Handley of the Organic Café thanked all those who came to the special charity middle-east themed breakfasts on the Saturday at the café, which raised £570 to help displaced people and those needing medical help in the Middle East.

The Big Breakfast was held on Friday, January 31, Saturday, February 1 and Sunday, February 2.
