PUPILS at a Droitwich school have enjoyed a visit from the South African High Commission.
The visit came after Westacre Middle School pupils wrote to a variety of embassies as part of a 'what a wonderful world' topic.
Staff from many of the embassies wrote back including the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Switzerland, Chile, Jordan and Indonesia, sending leaflets, posters as well as badges, bookmarks and scarves.
A representative from the South African embassy travelled from London to Droitwich to present the Westacre children with the information they’d requested as well as a range of different souvenirs.
Bryony Page, head of Year 6, said: “The children were thrilled with all the post and especially the special visit: their faces said it all!
"Our newly developed curriculum really drives diversity and communication and we hope it inspires the children to travel the world and be exposed to a range of possible careers.”
Paul Barber, Westacre’s deputy headteacher, said: “This is an exciting time to be a pupil and teacher at Westacre - this curriculum launch should help us provide a world-class education to our children in every subject they study.
"Already in Year 6, their topic based around the countries of the world has seen them develop their skills and knowledge in Art, DT, Geography and History with learning opportunities planned across all areas of the school curriculum."
