A STEEL manufacturing firm has moved into a 4th unit at Kidderminster's Hoo Farm Industrial Estate.

The local operation of Protektor UK Group, a German firm specialising in steel, aluminium and PVCu products for the construction industry, expanded its Kidderminster base after experiencing sustained business growth.

Originally founded in Kidderminster in the 1970s, Protector UK has doubled its turnover beyond £10m in the last 10 years, during wich time it has already expanded into a further two units on the industrial estate.

The latest expansion will safeguard more than 90 local jobs.

Peter Broadfield, UK managing director, said: "To have enjoyed sustained growth is a satisfying position to be in, but we were conscious of the importance of identifying a 4th unit in close proximity to our existing facilities in order to keep the overall operation as a cohesive whole.

“Without this we may have needed to consider a relocation elsewhere which would have been both disruptive and hugely expensive.”

The unit will allow for additional office and warehousing space.
