A MAN was taken to hospital with potentially serious injuries after he fell 10 metres down a well near Tenbury Wells.
Emergency services were called shortly before 9am on Monday morning (January 6) to the incident in Knighton-on-Teme.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Ambulance crews worked closely with colleagues from the fire service to bring the man to safety.
"He received treatment from ambulance staff for potentially serious injuries before being transported to Worcester Royal Hospital by land ambulance.”
One ambulance, three paramedic officers, a BASICS doctor, the hazardous area response team and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham attended the scene.
A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service added it was around two hours before the man was safely brought up from the well.
"We were called to a man fallen approximately 10 metres (32 feet) down a well in and in chest deep water in Knighton on Teme in Tenbury Wells at just before 9am this morning," they said.
"Using specialist equipment a firefighter from the rope rescue team was winched down the well in order to rescue the man," they added.
"The man was rescued at just after 11am following a delicate operation due to the unstable nature of the surrounding area which was at risk of collapsing into the well."
