A MUM from Worcester has made the final of a pageant that focuses on body-positivity while also raising money for a postnatal depression charity.

Rebecca Lewis, 25, from Warndon, has made the final stage of Miss Voluptuous 2020.

This will be the pageant's fourth year and there are 23 finalists in the running, each raising money and awareness for their chosen charity.

Mrs Lewis said: “This is a pageant with a difference due to it not being focused on looks or weight, but rather an eagerness to make the world a better place."

Mrs Lewis has competed in several pageants and was elected as Miss Worcester Curve last year.

Natalie Carley, director of Miss Voluptuous pageants, said: Our aim is to build the confidence of incredible plus size women by encouraging them to volunteer, raise money for charity and raise awareness for the causes they are passionate about, thus helping them to achieve a sense of self worth outside of a physical aesthetic.”

“By volunteering and getting involved in their communities, they are able to step outside of their comfort zones and foster a sense of purpose and achievement.”

Mrs Lewis will be raising money for PANDAS, an organisation that helps women and their families with pre and post natal mental health support and advice.

She said: “I chose PANDAS as my platform as it is a charity I hold dear to my heart. After the birth of my son I suffered with mental health issues.

"This charity helps so many women all over the country, but many aren’t aware of the support it provides, and suffer in silence.”

“I wish to help break the stigma behind mental health and postnatal mental health; allowing women to speak freely without shame about their issues and seek the help they need. I have been fundraising online and I will be doing a bake sale and organising a fun day in Worcester during the summer to raise money for this very worthy cause.”

The Miss Voluptuous pageant will be held on October 10, 2020 at the Guildhall arts centre in Grantham.
