A NEWLY-FORMED group of choristers from a Stourport care home beamed with pride when they performed at their very first dementia-friendly concert.

Joining choirs from across the country at the Kidderminster Dementia Action Alliance event, the Ravenhurst Angels were thrilled to represent Ravenhurst Residential Care Home, where they have been busy practicing their songs for weeks.

Led by choir master and fellow resident Rita Hardiman, who read a poem she had written especially for the performance, the residents - some of whom live with dementia - sang wearing matching Christmas jumpers.

Rita, who enjoyed a career as a music teacher, said: “I was very proud of the choir after all my training. Everything I had told them they did perfectly.

"It was wonderful and all I can do is praise them.”

The home’s activities leader Dani Dunn added: “The residents were really buzzing afterwards and I felt very proud of them.

"Doing something so out of their comfort zone, standing in front of all of those people and singing has been wonderful for their confidence.

“We felt quite tearful and overwhelmed watching them. So many people said how amazing they were which was lovely to hear.”
