TENBURY’S popular mistletoe festival returns this year with a host of fun and games on offer.

From storytellers and musicians to street entertainers and a Santa parade, there is something for everyone at the event, which takes place this weekend.

Held in Tenbury Wells, hailed as ‘England’s Capital of Mistletoe’, the free event will run from 10am to 5.30pm on Saturday, December 7 at venues including the library, the Round Market, the Pump Rooms and outside Tesco.

Throughout the day, children will have the chance to create their own Christmas tree decorations.

They will also be able to hear Christmas stories from storyteller and award-winning author Amy Douglas, as well as take part in a workshop with Helen Wendy Cooper, author of ‘The Kissing Tree’.

Live entertainment will include a stilt walker, jester, fire breather, penny farthing, Loki the Evil trickster and Frigga with the Mistletoe Maidens.

A Drumming and Druid procession will be held along Riverside Walk, as well as Druid Ceremony on the Burgage, followed later by the Santa Parade.

Following in tradition, the head girl and head boy of Tenbury High Ormiston Academy will step into their roles of mistletoe queen and holly prince and will be crowned outside the Regal.

Victoria Carman, visitor economy officer at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “The Mistletoe Festival is always a great start to the festive season with lots of unique activities to enjoy.

"There is always such a lively atmosphere and it is a welcome boost to local businesses at what is a busy time of the year.”
