ACORNS Children's Hospice does some fantastic work in the city which isn't often highlighted.

Unfortunately, the charity itself is very much under threat and is desperately looking to raise funding while still continuing its support for children and families.

Former Worcester Warriors player Alex Grove has got a gruelling few months ahead of him as he trains to swim the English Channel to raise money for the organisation.

It's great to see a talented athlete putting their gifts to such an inspiring cause while they are still competing in their chosen profession.

The hospice has a centre near Mr Grove's home in Worcester, with the charity fundraising £2 million to keep its Walsall branch open.

It is feared the branch, which looked after 200 children last year, may have to close due to a lack of funds.

Many sportsman will be seen posing for photos in relation to various good causes but Mr Grove has really taken things to another level.

The Ex-Scotland international, who has completed a number of marathon swims, will attempt the 21-mile challenge next summer.
