A MOTORCYCLIST suffered ‘horrific injuries’ after he crashed the bike as a result of his 'own stupidity'.

Ronnie Best admitted riding a motorcycle dangerously when he appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old, who entered the court on crutches, rode the Yamaha R6 on the A38 at Rubery bypass dangerously on April 10 this year.

Simon Worlock, for Best, said his client remembered road testing the motorbike and that he had not taken drink or drugs but knew of no reason why he should be riding on the wrong side of the road.

“He sustained horrific injuries” said Mr Worlock who told the court Best had now had three out of six operations.

“His memory is pretty shot. What he does remember is matters before the accident but not since” said Mr Worlock.

The advocate also told the court his client had developed PTSD as a result of the accident.

Michael Conry, prosecuting, said Best did not have any relevant previous convictions and that it was desirable for the sentencing court to have full information including any medical report and a pre-sentence report, prepared by the probation service.

“He’s the one who suffered most from his own stupidity and dangerous driving” said Mr Conry.

Best was due to see his surgeon next February to discuss a date for a forthcoming operation.

Recorder John Steel QC ordered that the case next be heard on January 21, 2020, asking that Best liaise with probation to prepare a probation report who would also take into account the medical report in recommending a sentence.

Best of Ringwood Drive, Rednal, said from the dock: “I would just like to apologise for what I did. I have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life.”
