SIR – The MPs Harriett Baldwin and Robin Walker are following the example of Boris Johnson.
Good at headlines not so good on detail.
The extra carriages West Midlands Trains are using will be single coach with toilets inaccessible for disabled passengers.
Probably not all West Midlands Trains drivers based at Worcester will be trained to drive them.
Also a slot will be required from Network Rail to get these units to Birmingham New Street from their depot.
This is not easy as this is in addition to an extremely crowded timetable.
If the movement of these units causes delay to the services run by other franchises West Midlands Trains may be penalised.
Robin Walker issues the threat that these problems should affect the next franchise.
Empty words, not many companies put bids in for franchises now so there may not be much competition.
