A BODY has been recovered from the River Avon in Evesham.

West Mercia Police confirmed the body was recovered from the River Avon on Wednesday afternoon at around 4.45pm.

The body is believed to be a man in his 30s and the discovery is being linked to an earlier domestic incident in Forrest Gate, Evesham.

The cause of death is not yet known but police say it is not linked to the flooding in the area.

The body has not yet been identified.

Emergency services were called out to an incident in Waterside, Evesham yesterday morning.

Firefighters were called to the are at 6:48 and sent two fire engines and two boats. Police officers were also at the scene.

A police spokesperson said: “Emergency services are in attendance on Abbey Road, Evesham following concerns that a man had gone into the river Avon,”

“We received the call at 6.56am from a member of the public who stated they thought they had seen a man in the water.

“Emergency services including Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service are working together with West Mercia Police to search the river and surrounding area.”
