AN Alvechurch pub is set for a new lease of life which will create ten new jobs in the village.

The Crown Inn, Withybed Green, has closed for a £336,000 makeover which will see a host of improvements.

The exterior of the pub will be refurbished with new signage and lights while the rear of the building will also see a host of improvements.

New landlord Joe Lunn, who has taken over the lease after running the pub as a manager for the last two years, said: "“I’ve lived all my life in Alvechurch and have wanted to run The Crown Inn as my own pub for years.

"When the opportunity to take on the lease came up and I heard it was going to have a refurbishment I leapt at the chance to take it on.

"It has so much potential and once it is renovated will be a fantastic place for local residents, walkers, and boaters to use."

Inside the major renovation will include the top bar area being being replaced with additional seating and a new log burner is being fitted in the bar.

The toilets are also being upgraded and a new kitchen will be installed to allow the pub to cater for more diners.

The pub is due to reopen on Friday December 6.
