Christmas audiences who may normally find attending the theatre a challenging experience will be given the opportunity to be taken on a journey from rags to riches.

The Courtyard in Hereford is offering a relaxed performance of its festive season pantomime, Cinderella.

With a wicked Step Mother and two ugly sisters keeping her confined to cleaning duties, Cinderella’s chances of attending the Ball are looking slim.

However, when a glamorous Fairy Godmother appears to help Cinderella turn her rags to riches (and a pumpkin into a carriage!) her dream of meeting Prince Charming becomes a reality, as long as she doesn’t break her midnight curfew.

A spokesman said: "A relaxed performance is specifically designed for those who would appreciate a less formal theatre environment. The aim is to retain all the magic of the pantomime experience but in a more relaxed setting through sensitive changes to the performance. A quiet, sensory room will also be provided for audience members to use if they need a break from the performance. A social story will be availble prior to the visit and adjustments are made to ensure the experience is as relaxed and accommodating as possible.

"Relaxed Performances are open to everyone but may benefit individuals with autism spectrum conditions, learning difficulties or sensory and communication difficulties."
