A COUNTY councillor has invested hundreds in funds to provide free swimming lessons to over 50's in Wyre Forest.

Councillor Anne Hingley has been supporting a swimming lesson initiative to teach people new skills, conquer their fears, and keep them active for six years.

Previously held at the former Wyre Forest Glades since 2014, Cllr Hingley continues to support over 50's with free lessons at Wyre Forest Leisure Centre.

She has helped a total of 100 people in Wyre Forest learn a new lifesaving skill and keep them fit in later life.

Mrs Hingley said: “It gives me great pleasure to support this initiative.

"Getting elderly people within the district more active is important to me”.

Melissa Bettis, health & wellbeing manager at Wyre Forest Leisure Centre said: “We are so grateful to Anne for helping fund this initiative.

"Since 2014 we have had over 100 people take part and learn to swim, it’s been amazing to see and watch individuals grow with confidence, it clearly shows that it’s never too late to learn”.
