AWAY from the never-ending Brexit saga Bromsgrove MP and Chancellor of the Exchequer Sajid Javid recently visited patients from Primrose Hospice.

Mr Javid, who is the charity’s patron, spent time at the hospice, in St Godwalds Road, and heard first-hand the positive effect Primrose had on people with life-limiting conditions and their families.

He answered patients’ questions on hospice funding and pensions and met with staff and volunteers.

He also revealed that Trevor the hospice dog was part of the reason his family decided to get cavapoo Bailey, after he showed his children pictures of Trevor following a previous visit to the hospice.

David Burrell, CEO of Primrose Hospice, said: “We were pleased to welcome Sajid to Primrose Hospice.

“We are extremely proud of what we do here and how we support people living in Bromsgrove, Redditch and beyond.

“However, it was important for the patients and support group members to share with Sajid what Primrose Hospice meant to them and how we support people living in his constituency.

“It was humbling to hear them talk about Primrose in such glowing terms.

“Hospice care is for everyone. We provide free care and support to patients, their families as well as bereaved adults and children whose loved ones may never have had contact with the hospice.

“We are grateful to Sajid for all his support for Primrose Hospice and for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit his local hospice.”

It costs £1.75million annually to run Primrose Hospice with 85 per cent of this total having to be raised by the community.

Sajid Javid MP was announced as patron of Primrose Hospice earlier this year at the charity’s fundraising business lunch.

The hospice’s fundraising team is currently busy organising its third annual Primrose Ball set to take place on Friday, September 27 at Chateau Impney, Droitwich.

Tickets, costing £65 or £650 for a table of ten, are available at primrosehospice.org/events/primrose-ball.
