Now celebrating its 21st year the ever popular Shipston Proms Music Festival gets underway again next month, running from June 14 to June 29.

A spokesman said: “There will be music on every day during the two week festival and whatever type of music you like it’s here this year. DJ’s and dance parties, jazz, folk, pop, rock, rhythm and blues, classical, and show tunes, all ready to enjoy in town and village halls, pubs, cafes and churches in and around Shipston on Stour.

“New venues this year are Talton Mill at Newbold, Alderminster, Halford, and Long Compton Village Halls plus the Ebenezer Chapel at Long Compton and the Three Ewes Café in Shipston.”

Highlights include international artist David Boakes as Michael Jackson on launch night, a 3 DJ Friday Night Dance Party with legendary DJ Tim Samara, international guitarist Craig Ogden and mezzo soprano Claire Bradshaw appearing at St. Edmund’s church and of course the headliners The Britpop Boys and Oliver Darling and The Living Legends on their appropriately named legendary Last Night on Saturday June 29 June.

The spokesman added: “For younger members of Shipston there is musical adventure waiting for them at the Scout Hut hosted by Calypso Kids and a chance to join in a family dance party at Townsend Hall.

“There is a record number of venues for the café and pub trail this year on Saturday June 22. Three cafes and five pubs are so far involved with The Blue Bean Café in Shipston opening throughout the afternoon with refreshments and live acoustic music from local singer songwriter Greg Brice.”
