VOLUNTEERS from a local solicitors firm have helped to prepare an overgrown patch of land in Kidderminster for a new sensory garden project.

The keen team from the family department at Thursfields Solicitors, which has offices in Stourport and Kidderminster, swapped their briefcases for shovels to clear an area at Simply Limitless Wellbeing Centre in Puxton Lane, ready for it to be transformed into an ornamental sensory garden for the elderly.

Paul Raper, chief executive at the Simply Limitless Wellbeing Centre, said: “We’re really grateful to the volunteers from Thursfields who were prepared to get stuck into some hard work on our gardening project.

“This involved clearing and digging over a patch of land that had not been worked on for years to prepare it to become an ornamental sensory garden.

“We are going to develop this as part of our ‘Reconnections’ project with older people who will love meeting people in what will become a lovely garden.”

The Thursfields staff getting their hands dirty included Susanne Leach, an associate solicitor from the Kidderminster office, Jasdeep Nagra, a solicitor from Halesowen, and Bethan Buckley, a legal apprentice from the Stourport office.

Shane Miller, director and head of the family department at Thursfields, said: “Simply Limitless is a fantastic wellbeing charity that does some crucial work in the local community.

“We are really pleased to be helping them out with a variety of volunteering like the recent day of gardening and with other projects where they need decorating assistance.

“We’re thrilled that we have so many staff here at Thursfields who are prepared to get involved with charity work and to make a difference for people who need help in the areas where we work.”
