A WOMAN has been seriously injured after being hit by a car in the centre of Netherton this afternoon.

Medics were called to the junction of Park Road and Baptist End Road just after 3pm to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a car.

Two ambulances attended the scene, alongside a paramedic officer, the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford, a Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car and the West Midlands Care Team.

The woman, in her forties, was taken to hospital where she remains in a serious condition.

A police spokesperson said: "Police were called to a collision involving a pedestrian and a car at the junction of Baptist End Road and Park Road, Netherton, at 3.10pm today (19 March).

"A woman in her 40s was taken to hospital, where she remains in a serious condition.

"Road closures are in place and motorists are urged to avoid the area."

The junction of Baptist End Road with Cinder Bank is currently closed.

The number 81 bus route which goes through Netherton to Merry Hill and Wolverhampton has also been diverted.

Earlier this afternoon a motorcyclist was injured after a crash with a car, also in the centre of Netherton.
