THE stunning grounds of Hanbury Hall were recently lit with hundreds of fairy lights and walkers carrying lanterns.

As the winter’s sun set behind the hall, almost 250 people followed the peaceful one mile trail around the beautiful gardens of the National Trust property.

Many carried lanterns and there was a chance to stop in the gardens for a moment of remembrance with Primrose’s chaplain Keith Judson to hang their memory hearts with messages to their loved ones.

At the end of the trail, they were greeted by Primrose Choir who sang a medley of songs.

It was the first time the hospice had run a lantern walk and it raised almost £4,000 which will go towards supporting life-limited people and their families in Redditch and Bromsgrove.

Anna Wilson, Primrose Hospice fundraiser, said: “It was an incredibly moving event that was so well supported by the community.

“The weather was perfect, there was a stunning sunset across Hanbury just as the walkers made their way along the beautifully-lit route.

“Seeing groups of families and friends carrying the lanterns and taking time to remember someone special was moving and then we ended on a high with the fabulous Primrose Choir singing with Hanbury Hall as the backdrop."

She added: “Thank you to everyone who supported what was such a special event which we hope to put on again.

“We would especially like to thank Chris and his wife Jane from CLT Electrical & Data who supported the event and came along to the Lantern Walk.”
