THE inquest hearing into the death of Tom Jones is set to take place at Worcestershire Coroner's Court today.

The 18-year-old University of Worcester student went missing last September after a night out prompting a major search, before his body was found in the River Severn.

The Bromsgrove resident's inquest is scheduled to be held at the court in Stourport in front of coroner Geraint Williams this morning and is scheduled to last one hour.

Police initially said his death was being treated as unexplained, with the inquest initially opened and immediately adjourned on October 3.

Two men were also arrested on suspicion of murder prior to the discovery of the body, but were released with no further action taken.

Friend Harley Hetherington who helped co-ordinate the search, set up Facebook group Find Jonah which later became Remember Jonah for people to post their memories.

Vigils were held in Worcester and Bromsgrove days after his death, with flowers left in memory of Tom on Sabrina Bridge.

Worcestershire County Council also announced there will be a lasting memorial to the student at Sabrina Bridge, as part of refurbishment works being carried out later this year.
