TOWN councillors in Ross-on-Wye will now be available to talk to at the Market House.

At Monday night's council meeting, Caroline Bennett suggested running a trial period of holding councillor surgeries at the town's Saturday street market.

At the moment councillors hold weekly surgeries every Saturday morning at the library in Cantilupe Road.

Councillor Bennett said: "It is really my wish to bring what the council does to the people.

"I feel by holding a stall at the market on a monthly basis we can show what we do and how we do it."

She said 27 people attended the weekly library surgeries last year, nine about town council matters and 17 about Herefordshire Council matters.

Councillor Phil Cutter said: "I am very much in favour of this idea. I never did think it worked at the library."

The motion was agreed - to start on the first Saturday in February, timing to be agreed, and to run until May.
