EIGHT boys at Wolverley CE Secondary School have shaved their heads in honour of their families and friends who have been affected by cancer.

Josef Baynton, Harvey Hopkins, Connor Whittall, Tai Edgar, Dominic Sheppard, Oscar Wardle, Joshua Hodges and Max Percy braved the shave at JFM Barbers in Mill Street, Kidderminster, on Thursday, December 20 in an effort to raise £1,000 for their chosen charity Cancer Research UK.

Two weeks on, the students have already surpassed their fundraising goal, collecting more than £1,400 in donations on their Just Giving page.

A spokesman for the group said: "We started this to raise money for Cancer Research due to cancer affecting all of us somehow and also because we did a school vote and Cancer Research was the most popular vote in the national charities category.

"We set our target as £1,000 which we never thought we would get to. However, in one week, with over 60 supporters we reached our goal, which is totally amazing, especially in the Christmas period."
