AN investigation into files discovered at the old Stourport Sports Centre has found no breaches of data protection laws.

Wyre Forest District Council joined an investigation by Places Leisure into a potential data protection breach at the derelict building, after a video was posted online showing filing cabinets apparently filled with old documents.

The 11-minute video, posted by Youtuber 'STOKZEXPLRE' who films himself exploring abandoned buildings, takes viewers on a tour around the old sports facility, which is now cluttered with rubble and blotted with graffiti.

Councillor Nathan Desmond, cabinet member for resources at Wyre Forest District Council, has since confirmed: “We have been assured by Places Leisure, who are responsible for the data of their members, that following an investigation there has not been a breach of data protection legislation.

"No personal data was found within the filing cabinet shown on the video.”

Stourport Sports Centre was closed in July 2016, coinciding with the opening of the £11.9m Wyre Forest Leisure Centre.
