EVESHAM Town Council is on the move to new offices.

After 12 years at the Community Contact Centre the authority is moving a short distance to a new office at Abbey Lane Court.

The Town Council has signed a three year lease following the expiry of its lease at the Contact Centre.

The Town Council looked at staying at the Contact Centre however this became less feasible with Wychavon District Council and the Job Centre also planning to leave in 2019.

After looking at a number of options the Town Council opted for a ground floor office at Abbey Lane Court, making it in within walking distance of the town centre and also offering visitors parking.

The town mayor, Councillor Mark Goodge said: "It is with a heavy heart that we leave the contact centre, however, a change in the way our partner organisations deliver their customer services has meant that we have had to seek alternative premises.

"With this in mind, Abbey Lane Court offers a great office for our staff and is very accessible for the general public.

"Long term, we will continue to look at options for an office in the town centre, but for now, we look forward to continuing to serve the people of Evesham from our new office."

The town clerk Stuart Carter said: "Despite not being in the same building we will continue to work closely with our partner organisations especially Wychavon District Council and West Mercia Police.

"There maybe a little disruption at the start but I know the Town Council staff are committed to offering the best service they can, helping members of the public even if their enquiry is not related to the Town Council."

The authority will have a new telephone number 01386 565700.

The Town Council will be moving office the week beginning December 3, with the aim for the move to be complete by the end of that week.

The authority’s opening hours will remain the same, 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursdays, and 9am to 4.30pm on Fridays.
