A MISSING person's search for Bromsgrove teenager Tom Jones has resumed today, with police teams renewing their appeal for CCTV footage.

West Mercia Police is describing the investigation as a 'missing person enquiry', after two 20-year-old men arrested on suspicion of murder were released from police custody yesterday without charge.

Former South Bromsgrove student Thomas, who moved to Worcester last weekend for university, has not been heard from since the early hours of Wednesday morning (September 19).

Members of the Find Jonah! Facebook page are continuing to hand out posters today, and have put together a timeline of Thomas' whereabouts on Wednesday morning.

  • 3.00am McDonald’s Foregate St - with friends. Friends got on uni transport home - Tom walked as he had done the night before - not uncommon for students to do as far as we are currently aware.
  • 3.15am - Spoke to mum on the phone, said he was home, was actually still on the way.
  • 3.30am - took a Snapchat near Worcester race course black fences - thought to be on path towards river.
  • 3.45 - told flat mates he was on way home and wouldn’t be long.
  • 3.51 - send Snapchat to friend in halls saying wouldn’t be long til he was there.

There is no evidence of where Tom was at any time since 3.51am.

Police say they believe that just before 3.50am, Tom walked across the bridge and turned right on the footpath along flood defences in Hylton Road, in the direction of Hallow.

Divers searching the River Severn on Monday

Speaking beside the River Severn on Hylton Road yesterday afternoon, Superintendent Damian Pettit said: "Clearly we're focusing on the last movements, known to us for Thomas.

"Across Sabrina Bridge, near us, which crosses the River Severn and goes through the city here.

"I would like to say a huge thank you to our community as ever, Worcester city and beyond has really pulled together to support the family, friends, university students and that was seen in a show of force of 100 people and more coming together to search this vicinity and help with other activities, such as putting posters up.

Redditch Advertiser:

"I would appeal to further individuals in the community or groups, who may know Thomas, who may have a piece of information they don't think is that relevant, actually may be really relevant and particularly focus their attention on 03:00 hours on Wednesday morning through to 04:00 hours any information they have is gratefully received and may be really helpful to the investigation to find Thomas, and they can impart that information to us on 101 or to Crimestoppers."

He added that officers had searched Thomas' halls of residence, which he said is 'standard practice' during missing a person’s investigation.
