AN Evesham swimmer will be taking the plunge to raise cash for the charity he is a volunteer for.

Paul Leighfield is inviting the community to come and support him during his charity swim, being held this Friday at Evesham Leisure Centre this Friday, (September 28).

Mr Leighfield said: "I'm hoping to swim half a mile.

"Anything we raise will be going to the Sue Ryder charity."

The 42-year-old, who lives in Evesham, works at the Sue Ryder shop in High Street. The charity supports people with complex needs and life-threatening illnesses across the UK.

The swim is being held between noon and 1.30pm, and his fellow volunteers from the shop will be popping along to support him.

Mr Leighfield is asking that instead of sponsorship, people support his fundraising by making a donation direct to the charity at sueryder.org.
