A MALE youth was kicked in the back during an unprovoked assault in Rubery.

Three males, two wearing balaclavas, are reported to have carried out the attack from behind on New Road between 11pm and midnight on September 3.

The victim was kicked in the back and sustained minor injuries, but did not require hospital treatment.

A police spokesman said: "The assault is reported to have taken place after they followed the victim onto steps that lead to an alleyway called Callowbridge that emerges onto New Road.

"This is believed to possibly be a case of mistaken identity."

The alleged offenders, who also verbally threatened the victim, ran off after the incident.

One male is described as being in his early 20s, 5ft 11, slim build, wearing a balaclava, black long sleeved top, dark trousers, black and orange work gloves.

A second male is described as being in his late 20s, 5ft 11, large build, wearing a black padded leather bike jacket with red logo on chest area, and black and red leather biker gloves with plastic knuckle protection.

A third male was wearing a balaclava and dark clothing.
